Capt. Vinay Patwardhan
Ex-President, Teekay ShippingMMS rendered shipboard maintenance services to Teekay, & TCC Steamship companies during my tenures with them. During that time both companies had the need for professional management of vessel operations & safety of personnel on board.
MMS personnel were always professional & knowledgeable about the tasks at hand & planning essentials. Planning involved safety of personnel, environments & operations always.
MMS fulfilled the companies’ requirements on all accounts with their skilled workforce, competitive rates and timely completion of tasks with superior quality of workmanship.
Capt. M.M. Jolly
President, B O S MFor over 20 years, MMS has provided expert shipboard maintenance services for a fleet of 6 Very Large Ore Carriers (VLOCs) with DWT of 297,000 each, 4 ore/bulk carriers of 220,000 DWT, and 2 cape size vessels of 180,000 DWT.
The highly skilled Maintenance Squads of MMS, permanently deployed onboard, handle critical repairs during voyages including exhaust gas boilers, hydraulic machinery, mooring winches, auxiliary machinery including generator engines, exhaust gas scrubbers amongst others.
MMS Maintenance squads undertake continuous maintenance/upgrade of ballast tanks coating along with renewal of steel inside the tanks including under deck areas. Such maintenance work calls for exceptional manual rigging skills in handling of heavy-duty staging inside the tanks at heights of up to 32 metres.
MMS Maintenance squads have become valuable assets on these large vessels. They further enable ships’ readiness for dry dockings thus reducing Yard time. The maintenance squads promote high level economic ship maintenance, extend vessel life, and support efficient operations with high emphasis on safe working practices.
Capt. Dabiru Venkatraman
Director of a leading LPG Trading and Ship Owning CompanyMMS exceeded our expectations with their expertise and professionalism during a particularly challenging repair project aboard one of our VLGCs. Despite the complexity of the job, they successfully carried out critical repairs enroute to the load port—an impressive demonstration of their technical skill and adaptability.
The assigned MMS team brought hands-on experience and qualifications to the task, managing complex processes such as shifting steel plates inside the tanks using their own rigging equipment. This level of capability, combined with a workforce that includes second-generation employees, clearly reflects a strong, committed company culture.
The support from their shore-based technical team was equally commendable. They maintained seamless communication throughout, providing regular updates and closely monitoring progress, which greatly contributed to the project’s success and our peace of mind. The team was well-equipped with the necessary qualifications and documents, allowing for quick and efficient mobilization.
Key success factors included their timely response, cost-effective solutions, ability to work with minimal supervision, and, importantly, the completion of the job on schedule with no off-hire incurred.

If the beginning of one’s career can be considered as a second birth, then I was truly fortunate to start mine with MMS family, under the guidance of late Mr. Suresh Godbole (SVG). To say that I owe my career to Marine Management Services and to him would still be an understatement. I have not seen a company as transparent and caring as MMS, or a person as humble and supportive as Mr. SVG. His contributions to the shipping industry are widely recognized, and I am too small to do justice to his stature. But on a personal level, he has been a role model for me—embodying humility, work ethic, and dedication. He was not just a leader but a mentor to me and to many others, and countless careers, including mine, are a testament to his influence. If I can imbibe even a fraction of his qualities, I would consider myself truly blessed.
Capt. Manoj Kothiyal
I began my career with Marine Management Services PVT. Ltd.(MMS) at Mumbai, working three years ashore before sailing on MMS-managed vessels. During this time, I had the privilege of closely interacting with late Mr. Godbole and witnessing his exceptional vision in Ship management. Under his leadership, MMS managed vessels of renowned owners like Ugland Brothers, Teekay Tankers, BT Shipping (London), Reederie Nord, and Vela International Marine. He pioneered the “Flying Squad” for efficient onboard maintenance and set industry benchmarks with ballast tank upgrades and preventive maintenance. I still remember his golden words: “Confidence breeds confidence.” What impressed me most was his unwavering commitment to quality, professionalism, and human values. He built MMS to be more than just a company—it’s a culture of trust and reliability. I feel proud to have been part of MMS and remain deeply grateful for the foundation it gave me. Today, as an OIM/Master on an FPSO, much of my growth stems from the guidance I received at Marine Management Services.
